| In October 2007, SBS Transit made a purchase of 500 new Scania K230UBs, which were to be fitted with Gemilang bodywork. It is a single deck low-entry Wheelchair Accessible bus (WAB) that SBS Transit claims it 'scores many firsts'. Features of this bus include an Euro IV engine which emit fewer harmful particles, two Passenger In Wheelchair (PIW) spaces at the front of the bus and several safety features such as an anti-braking system.
These buses were first introduced on the roads on 1 November 2007, with Services 100 and 174 making debut. Following that, several other units of such buses were introduced progressively on the roads. They can now be found serving several services around the island (please check the Bus Info Hub website for details). 400 more units of such buses have been ordered, bringing the total to 900 units. These 400 units ("Batch 3") are said to boast the more environmentally-friendly Euro V engines as well as the stricter enhanced environmentally friendly vehicle (EEV) standard. Deliveries are scheduled to take place in 2009. SBS 8033D is a demonstrator of the fleet. Fitted with a different bodywork and furbished with a different interior, it previously served on Service 174, Fast Forward 174e and then on Service 51 from 8 May. However, it was once again exchanged with SBS 8436A and now serves Service 183 on a Split shift duty.
